Ex-Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham United player Glen Johnson has admitted that he made a huge error in his analysis of Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish. Glen Johnson revealed this while he was on Soccer Saturday over the weekend as he laughed when former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood told him that the previously mentioned Grealish would be a star.
Glen Johnson has been forced to eat the humble pie with Jack Grealish increasingly growing aa a real force for both club and country. The Aston Villa captain was one of the standout performers for the recent England games during the international break and he’s on course to be part of the Three Lions squad to the European Championship next summer.
His stock at Aston Villa continues to rise and the former European champions might find it difficult to retain his services despite the fact that he signed a new long-term contract over the summer. Jack Grealish was constantly linked with a move to Manchester United before he decided to commit his future to Aston Villa.
It would have been very difficult to hang on to his services if Aston Villa suffered relegation from the topflight of English football at the end of last season. Grealish was the main man for Aston Villa as his club stayed up for one more season at least with the help of a 1-1 draw on the final day of the season with Jack Grealish getting that all-important goal during the away trip to West Ham United.
Tim Sherwood has seen Grealish in close quarters while he was the Aston Villa manager and Glen Johnson should have listened to him. The skipper has been instrumental for Villa this season especially in the Premier League and his performances during the big wins over Liverpool (7-2 at home to the Reds) and Arsenal (3-0 away win) readily comes to mind.
