Glen: Bale Man U’s Loss

 

Glen Johnson, the former Liverpool and England full-back has gone public with his views about Bareth Bale’s move to Tottenham Hotspur this year. Johnson who retired in 2019 feels that Bale would have been happier playing for Manchester United than Tottenham had the Red Devils pushed for him more aggressively.


Bale who moved to Real Madrid in 2013 for a record fee was being chased by both United and Hotspur. He has been out of favor with Zinedine Zidane off late and had been looking for an opportunity to move to England in the hope of getting more appearances.

Glen Johnson Talks about His Teammates’ Characteristics

Many of the players have listed their own star-studded teams by mentioning why they are important for the team. Glen Johnson is no exception. He has also mentioned the names of his teammates with whom he has spent the most time, but with a twist. The former player in the right-back position has got the opportunity to play with some of the best talented footballers during his stints at Liverpool and Chelsea. He also represented England twice in the European Championships and World Cups.


Glen Johnson retired in the year 2018 at the age of 35 making 358 appearances in the Premier League. He also won a league title, FA Cup, and two League trophies. Now the product of the West Ham United academy wants to look back at his teammates by their characters and not only by the honours that they have received as a team. He described Pepe Raina as the funniest man of his team because he cracked jokes during training sessions and loved to play pranks on other mates.

In whipping in a cross for Jordan Henderson to finish off, Trent Alexander-Arnold has taken his assist tally to 10 this season compared to the 12 he registered last season to make him the first defender in history to record more than 10 assists in multiple premier league seasons in history.

Arsenal fans prefer Hector Bellerin to become the captain of the club after the recent crisis involving current captain Granit Xhaka. The Swiss international was embroiled in controversy during the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace some weeks back.

Xhaka appeared to rile the crowd at the Emirates who booed him after his name was called up for substitution. He also took off his shirt and headed to the tunnel which signified a major clash with the supporters.

GLEN JOHNSON REVEALS WORST TEAMMATE

Former Liverpool rightback Glen Johnson has revealed that Burundi international SaidoBerahino is one of the worst teammates that he has played with. Berahino who recently moved to Belgium side ZulteWaregem was Johnson’s teammate at Stoke City.

Berahino signed for Stoke City in 2017 from West Brom in a deal worth £12 million but was a troublesome player during his time at the club. The Potters had to pay the last three years of his contract in a final move to get him out of the club.

LIVERPOOL INTERESTED IN TURKISH STAR

Liverpool are said to be interested in Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir according to reports from Turkey. Cakir has been one of the standout performers in the Turkish League this season making excellent saves and showing good command of the defence.

His agent Erdi Kirkpinar revealed to the local media that Liverpool have joined in the race for the highly-rated stopper. According to him the Reds have sent scouts and have spoken to his representatives over a potential deal.

The appointment of Brendan Rodgers by Leicester last week was one of the biggest news as the former Liverpool manager made a return to the Premier League after 3 seasons in Celtic. His arrival has been greeted with a sense of optimism at the club due to his success in the Scottish League.

Claudio Ranieri hails Fulham striker as one of Europe’s best

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri has hailed Aleksandar Mitrovic as one of Europe’s best strikers after helping the Cottagers register a 3-2 win over Southampton over the weekend. Ranieri recently took over the reins from Slavisa Jokanovic after Fulham went without a point for six-straight league matches but he has since sorted them with a much-needed triumph.

Speaking after Fulham’s second league win of the season, Ranieri was pleased with the performance brought forward by the team and he reserved special praise for Mitrovic, who scored a goal in either half including the match-winner following the hour mark of the Saturday afternoon encounter. Ranieri said: “For me, Mitrovic is one of the best strikers in Europe. When I say in Europe, I say all the world. He’s only 24 years old, he’s a fantastic player, and it is important to give the ball to him.”
